May 30, 2011 -- Applied to OWAS for the Democratic Republic of Congo Program
June 1, 2011 -- Applied for U.S passport (Robin)
June 2, 2011 -- Contacted Catholic Charities about updating our home study
June 3, 2011 -- We are accepted into the Democratic Republic of Congo Adoption Program through OWAS
June 8, 2011 -- Mailed off Agreement and first agency fee to OWAS
June 29, 2011 -- Catholic Charities agrees to update our home study
June 30, 2011 -- Robin's passport arrives in the mail!
July 5, 2011 -- First appointment with Catholic Charities to update our homestudy
July 13, 2011 -- Second home study appointment
July 22, 2011 -- Final home study appointment
August 1, 2011 -- Received official referral for a 3 year old girl and 4 year old boy in the DRC
August 8, 2011 -- Our home study is FINALLY done!
August 11, 2011 -- Our home study is sent with our I 600a form to immigration
August 16, 2011 -- We officially accepted our referral and sent off accompanying payment
September 22, 2011 -- Had our fingerprinting appointment
September 30,2011 -- Received approval from for Advance Processing of Orphan Petition
October 1, 2011 -- Mailed our dossier to our agency to be sent to the Democratic Republic of Congo
October 13, 2011 -- We received verbal confirmation that passed court in the Democratic Republic of Congo!
January 20, 2012 -- Our agency received our court judgment dated January 6th.
January 23, 2012 -- Received our translated court documents, which have significant errors. Sent back to court with corrections.
March 6, 2012 -- Received corrected court documents, which were not corrected correctly
March 20, 2012 -- Received Certificate of Non-Appeal, making the children part of our forever family!
March 21, 2012 -- The U.S. Embassy approves our court documents as-is. HUGE relief!
March 26, 2012 -- Send off our I-600, and a pile of other documents to our agency.
April 13, 2012 -- Received notification that Immigration received our file and are processing it.
April 25, 2012 -- Received I-600 approval and forwarded it to our agency.
April 27, 2012 -- Our kids' passports came in! April 30, 2012 -- Embassy appointments are scheduled for June 14 and 18. We hope to travel 2-3 weeks after!
June 14, 2012 -- Our representative in the Congo misses our appointment.
July 20, 2012 -- Our representative makes it to our appointment, but visa processing times are fluctuating
August 7, 2012 -- The childrens' visas are issued
August 8, 2012 -- We received our visas to travel
August 12, 2012 -- We leave for the DRC
